North Notts A Child Drowned Dr. Houseley, coroner, held an inquest on the 5th inst. at Perlethorpe touching the death of George Pettinger, aged 2 years, son of Moses Pettinger, farm servant, who was found drowned in a stone trough. Mary Pettinger, the Mother, said the child went our alone at one o'clock, and five minutes afterwards, Emma Dunkley told her he was in the trough. She went and found him lying on the grass. Charles Allwood, gamekeeper, who took out the body, said the water in the trough was only 18 inches deep, and the body was lying with the face turned upwards. The jury returned a verdict of "accidentally drowned". Mentioned Mary Ann Bingham and Moses Pettinger.1 |
