MotherMary (=James) (?) b. bt 24 Sep 1784 - 6 Apr 1785, d. b 23 Sep 1863
Relationship2nd great-grandaunt of Philip John CHAMBERLAIN
(Child) Baptism26 September 1818 Mary James was baptised on 26 September 1818 at Hanbury, WOR, Mary d. Henry & Mary JAMES, Hanbury, Labourer

I think that "26 Sep" is a mis-type, or mis-transcription, and 22nd is correct - NO - 26th was right all along according to original records.1
(Child) Baptism*26 September 1818 She was baptised on 26 September 1818 at Hanbury, WOR, Mary d. Henry & Mary JAMES, Hanbury, Labourer.2
She was the daughter of Henry JAMES and Mary (=James) (?)
Research*29 April 1839 Research:Mary baptised 1818 is not the Mary James who marries William White (as that Mary James gives her father as William James (not Henry) on marriage).
I have associated that with her cousin Mary, born 1816 who is 2 years older.

There is a witness "Sarah James" who in both cases, could be a sister or sister-in-law.3

Estate of George Philip Kingswood
Note - regarding Distribution of the Estate

Following the death of the late George Philip Kingswood intestate not survived by any children, parents or brothers and sisters of the whole or half blood his estate became divisible on his death between his Aunts and Uncles and descendants of those Aunts and Uncles who pre-deceased him.
Charles Richard James and Winifred Lilian Sharpe are entitled to a one sixth share each in that capacity.
His Uncle reginald John James died during his lifetime leaving two children Mrs. Kathleen Hilton and Mrs. Margaret Chamberlain who therefore are entitled to equally share in his one sixth of the state, giving them one twelfth each.
His Aunt Florence May Franklin predeceased him leaving three children Mrs. Joyce Mary Hardy, Mrs. Brenda Betty Dolby and John Henry Franklin, his Uncle George Sidney James died leaving three children surviving namely Miss Winifred M. James, Kenneth James and Mrs Edith M. Stuart and his Uncle Albert Edward died during his lifetime also leaving three children Alan James, Wilfred James and Geoffrey James and therefore each of those beneficiaries shares equally in the share of the estate which his or her parent would have received had they survived the late Mr. Kingswood giving them a one eighteenth share each.

(indicates who was still living in 1991) with George Philip Kingswood on 12 September 1991.13
Anecdote*1994 One brother [Wilfred?] had sinus trouble, and found it affected him underground because of the pressure. He worked on the surface. However, in same place as wife's burial a few months before, and is the only choice.8

Not Married Bliss

A Sheffield Husband Sent to Prison

At the Sheffield Police Court, to-day, Thomas Saxby, of 5 court 1 house, Spital Street, was summoned for assaulting his wife, Kate Saxby who has recently been living apart from him at 27 Rawson Street, on October 2nd. Mr. Lambert was for the complainant.

Kate Saxby said she worked for a cigar-maker, and on the day in question when she left her employment at one o'clock, defendant came up to her, struck her in the face, and knocked her down. She was kicked, and shortly afterwards took hold of her by the throat and tried to strangle her. Defendant remarked that he would "finish her".

Defendant said it was impossible for a man to do his best for a woman like the complainant who was always deceiving him. He complained that his wife got into debt. On October 2nd he asked his wife is she would let him know where the child was, but she refused. He then caught hold of her and she fell to the ground.

It appeared that the parties, who were married in 1907, had been separated on two or three occasions. After marriage defendant enlisted in the Coldstream Guards as a single man, and when he left in August 1912, his conduct was reported to have been very good.

The Chairman (Dr. Hunt) said this was a very aggravated assault, and defendant would have to undergo one month's hard labour.1
